Our People
Every canyon has a personality. Every mesa has a mood that changes hour to hour. The people who lead these expeditions have been paying attention for a long time.
Justin Perkins
Justin was born in Utah and has spent the better part of his life exploring and getting lost in it.
For over twenty-five years he has been leading people into the backcountry — friends, colleagues, anyone curious enough to follow him somewhere most people never think to look. On foot, on a mountain bike, or deep into the backcountry by SxS, he keeps going because the landscape keeps calling him back.
He knows the landscape the way you know a place you’ve returned to so many times it starts to reveal things. A sandstone canyon where the rock has been shaped by water and wind into something that stops you mid-step. A stream in the Uintas, off the trail, quiet, where the brook trout are and time slows.
He has traveled through North America, Europe, and deep into the Amazon. He keeps coming back to Utah.
What people remember from a day in the field with Justin is usually something small — the stars away from any city, a formation around a corner they wouldn’t have found alone, the feeling of a place that stays with them long after they’ve left it.
Richard Morrey
Utah has always been home for Richard. Born and raised here, he grew up exploring the hidden places most people drive right past — remote canyons, forgotten historic sites, mountain trails, and small towns filled with stories. Even after traveling through more than 35 states and 3 countries, nothing has ever compared to the landscapes and adventures waiting in Utah.
Throughout his 20s, Richard spent his free time rock climbing, mountain biking, sledding the Wasatch Front, canyoneering through Southern Utah, and wandering the backcountry of Utah’s “Mighty 5.” For him, adventure was never just about adrenaline — it was about discovering places that make you feel small in the best possible way.
His background in luxury hospitality and human resources shaped the way he approaches guiding: every guest deserves to feel welcomed, valued, and truly part of the experience.
Richard joined Utah Adventure Charters to share his lifelong love of this beaUtahful state with travelers looking for more than a vacation — they’re looking for memories, stories, and experiences they’ll never forget.
